Pre-PMA 2008 Olympus µ [mju:] 840, µ [mju:] 1010 and µ [mju:] 1020 PDF Print E-mail
A new generation of µ [mju:]
The Olympus µ [mju:] 840, µ [mju:] 1010 and µ [mju:] 1020: Getting you closer
London, 22 January 2008 – This season sees the arrival of three powerful yet elegant additions to the award-winning Olympus µ [mju:] series. Perfectly suited to the needs of today’s sophisticated and fashion-conscious consumers, the µ [mju:] 840, µ [mju:] 1010 and µ [mju:] 1020 offer users the choice of optical zoom levels ranging from 5x to 7x in remarkably thin and elegant casings. Integrated Dual Image Stabilisation helps protect against blur caused by camera shake, while an extra large 2.7”/6.9cm HyperCrystal LCD affords a magnificent view for plenty of framing and reviewing ease. And with a suite of advanced imaging tools such as Face Detection Technology, these 8.0 and 10.1 Megapixel models represent a new generation for stylish compact photography. The Olympus µ [mju:] 840, µ [mju:] 1010 and µ [mju:] 1020 will be available from February 2008 at recommended prices of Ł199.99 for the µ [mju:] 840, Ł229.99 for the µ [mju:] 1010 and Ł269.99 for the µ [mju:] 1020.

These charming new models marry first-rate design with innovative technological advances to form the ideal combination of performance and style. Their striking colours and slim metallic bodies are augmented by outstanding image quality and processing speed thanks to Olympus’ advanced TruePic III image processor. Meanwhile, Dual Image Stabilisation provides double-barrelled protection against blur caused by camera shake – which comes in especially handy at the high levels of magnification these cameras provide. In addition, intelligent solutions such as Face Detection Technology have been integrated to ensure the flawless depiction of human subjects by automatically determining optimal exposure and sharpness settings. For significantly enhanced results in low-light conditions, BrightCapture Technology has also been included. Moreover, an extra large 2.7”/6.9cm HyperCrystal LCD enables the easy preview and review of shots with all your friends – even in direct sunlight.

µ [mju:] 840

Packing a hearty 8.0 Megapixels, the µ [mju:] 840 features a powerful 5x optical zoom (equiv. to 36-180mm) for getting up close to subjects without having to change positions. For extreme close-ups, a Super Macro function with a minimum shooting distance of 3cm delivers high-resolution images of fascinating textures and surfaces. When used in conjunction with an Olympus xD-Picture Card, this model also features a new Panorama mode to enable the preservation of scenic memories such as nature in its full splendour. What’s more, the smart metallic body of the versatile µ [mju:] 840 comes in a range of four stylish colours: Starry Silver, Midnight Black, Ocean Blue and Candy Pink.

µ [mju:] 1010

The strapping µ [mju:] 1010 boasts 10.1 Megapixels and a 7x optical zoom (equiv. to 37-260mm) for exciting close-ups in stunning detail: retain the ability to zoom and crop later on a computer, as there’s plenty of room to edit without quality loss. This model also comes with the extremely light and ultra-slim LI-50B rechargeable battery with an increased lifespan of 25% – so you can concentrate on getting great shots without having to stop and recharge. What’s more, expressing yourself is easy with the µ [mju:] 1010 since its stylishly-slim metallic body is also available in a choice of three exciting colours: Starry Silver, Midnight Black and Royal Blue.

µ [mju:] 1020

Photographers looking for powerful zooming capabilities will be pleased with the phenomenal 7x optical zoom (equiv. to 37-260mm) of the µ [mju:] 1020. Available in Starry Silver or Midnight Black, this slim-bodied model features a generous 10.1 Megapixels to ensure not a single precious detail goes missing. Furthermore, the µ [mju:] 1020 features the light and compact LI-50B rechargeable battery with an increased lifespan – so shooting can now go on for up to 25% longer without a recharge!

Ease of use

The µ [mju:] 840, µ [mju:] 1010 and µ [mju:] 1020 boast a number of common features which enhance their intuitive usability such as illuminated buttons to allow for improved navigation when shooting at night or in low-light conditions. Additionally, 38 languages on board guarantee that almost anyone in Europe can operate these cameras in their native tongue. Plus, the combination of internal memory and an xD-Picture Card slot means that there’s always room to expand storage space. Olympus Master software for extra ease in the editing and archiving of images is naturally also included.
