ArcSoft Cut-It-Out(TM)

Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) Plug-in for Creating Selection Masks.

LAS VEGAS --(Business Wire)-- Mar. 9, 2007 ArcSoft, Inc. announced the release of ArcSoft Cut-It-Out(TM) today at the PMA 2007 Convention. Cut-It-Out is a new plug-in for Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) that allows users to separate objects in digital photos from their backgrounds, creating a mask. The segmentation technology provides a fast and accurate solution for complex object extraction.

"Creating pro-level photo editing masks may now be achieved with unprecedented time savings and ease-of-use," said Michael Downs, ArcSoft Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. "The Cut-It-Out plug-in gives users a preview of our high-end photo editing technology offerings which we will be expanding over the course of the year."

Similar in functionality to Photoshop's Extract command, Cut-It-Out offers superior speed and accuracy in selecting object details from image backgrounds. For example, wispy hair or intricate tree leaves are both difficult and time-consuming to isolate with other methods; Cut-It-Out has an easy-to-use interface that provides both quick, excellent precision and options for fine-tuning the object extraction. The plug-in works with Windows versions of Adobe Photoshop 6, 7, 8, and CS, and with Photoshop Elements.

Users interested in using Cut-It-Out with their digital photos may also want to download the free ArcSoft RAW Thumbnail Viewer(TM) plug-in. Released earlier this year, the free plug-in allows users to see thumbnails of virtually all RAW photo formats right within the "Thumbnails" view of Windows Explorer -- instead of the generic icon that Windows displays by default -- enabling people to browse and manage their most important images without having to launch special software.

Pricing and Availability

ArcSoft Cut-It-Out(TM) is offered for retail purchase for US$99.99. More information is available at http://www.arcsoft.com/products/cutitout
