Kodak Launches New Way for Consumers to Conveniently Print Digital Pictures at More than 12,000 Retail Locations Nationwide

ORLANDO, February 24 — Eastman Kodak Company has introduced a new digital printing solution for consumers to conveniently print their digital pictures at retail. Now, at more than 12,000 retail locations around the country, consumers can simply drop off their memory cards or CDs for printing of all their digital pictures and return to the store in a few days for pick-up.

Through its Qualex central lab organization, Kodak is providing people with another option for making digital prints. Similar to dropping off a roll of film for developing, people can print large numbers of digital images conveniently and affordably in many KODAK processing locations across the country. Printing digital images at retail is the country’s fastest-growing picture printing method, with 4 billion printed in 2005 compared to only 2.4 billion the year before and 6.3 billion projected to be made in 2006 according to the Photo Marketing Association (PMA). Consumers printing their pictures with this new service will also benefit from KODAK PERFECT TOUCH Technology, which individually analyzes and digitally processes each picture to lessen red-eye, reveal more vibrant colors, and bring out richer detail with fewer dark shadows.

“In the past year, we wanted to expand consumer choices for printing digital pictures at retail,” said Gary Evans, vice president, Photofinishing Services, Kodak. “Consumers who have adopted digital cameras, but not yet the printing process, will appreciate this service as it allows them to print all their digital pictures by simply dropping off their memory cards as they would in the past with a roll of film.”

Retailers also benefit from this service by offering a second option for consumers to print their digital pictures, complementing in-store kiosks while preserving valuable in-store space. Additionally, this new service allows retailers without a kiosk or minilab to provide consumers with a streamlined approach to printing digital photos without the need to invest in equipment or networking connections until they have a proven digital printing business.

Kodak provides the greatest number of ways to make prints from digital media and this service affords more consumers with an opportunity to experience Kodak’s celebrated ease of use. In fact, Kodak leads the market in four major U.S. consumer digital photography segments: digital cameras, snapshot photo printers, retail photo kiosks and online printing with the KODAK EasyShare Gallery.
