Sony launches the Cyber-shot H1 12x Optical Zoom digital still camera with Super Steady Shot PDF Print E-mail

Sony Europe Press Release - Berlin, February 2005 - Get up close The new Sony Cyber-shot H1 is the first Sony digital still camera to combine a 12x Optical zoom lens with a Super Steady Shot optical image stabiliser, 5.1 effective Megapixel resolution, a large 2.5-inch LCD screen, fast response and full manual exposure control.

{mosaddphp:/ads4.php}Far off subjects pose no problem to the new super strength 12x Optical Zoom lens on the Sony Cyber-shot H1. This superb Sony lens is capable of bringing up the furthest objects in pin sharp detail, but can also handle those nearest to the camera too, thanks to its 2cm Macro function. The remarkable Sony unique Super Steady Shot ensures shots are rock solid, even at the furthest zoom ratio. A 5.1 effective Megapixel resolution Super HAD CCD matches the high optical strength, so not only do you have a large zoom with this model, you’ll have the option for larger prints too. The Sony Real Imaging Processor further enhances the shooting experience, keeping pictures sharp, colours real, ensuring an extremely rapid camera operation, and long STAMINA battery life. For even further subjects a 24x Precision Digital Zoom is on hand, as well as an astonishing 48x Smart Zoom in VGA mode.

Stable shooting
The Cyber-shot H1 is packed with innovations to take the fuss out of photography. One of these is the Sony developed Super Steady Shot, a built-in optical image stabiliser that automatically compensates for ‘hand-shake’ and vibrations to produce sharp digital pictures every time. The large and bright 2.5-inch LCD screen has a higher contrast ratio for a more realistic and vivid display of your images. This combined with a new non-glare finish and low reflection coating; the viewing angle is greatly improved by an impressive 25% - great for reviewing and sharing your images. The logical menu screens also offer enlarged function icons for ease of use. You can use Sony Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO for fast and efficient image storage, but there’s also the 32MB of internal memory to fall back on when your Memory Stick is full or when you forget to bring one with you. There’s no need to worry about the battery running low either, as in conjunction with the Real Imaging Processor, Sony’s energy-efficient Stamina system allows 260 shots* on one charge when using the two supplied rechargeable batteries.

Familiar camera feel, Compact usability
Both the menu screens and the on-camera controls give access to a wide range of functions for both ease of use and professional tools for those wishing to be more creative in their photography. There is a range of exposure modes from fully manual to fully automatic modes as well as adjustable White Balance and several auto-focus settings such as Continuous AF and Flexible Spot AF. ISO, sharpness, contrast and saturation settings can be customised and light metering configured for flexibility and creativity in various shooting situations. There are also multiple automatic functions to allow point-and-shoot simplicity while one of the seven Scene Selection modes will be suitable for almost any picture setting or occasion. Just set the mode to landscape, twilight portrait or high-speed shutter for example and you’ll be sure of a perfectly exposed picture suited to those conditions. Video is also possible, using Sony’s MPEG Movie VX Fine to record high quality VGA video at up to 30 frames a second (when using optional Memory Stick PRO), which is ideal for playing back full screen on TV. In addition, the camera also offers extensive connectivity, including Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and the PictBridge** facility for printing your photos directly to a compatible printer without the need for a PC.

The Cyber-shot H1 will ship throughout Europe at the end of June 2005.

* Initial, tentative figures. The measurement method is based on the CIPA standard (CIPA: Camera & Imaging Products Association).
