NuCORE Technology, maker of the award-winning CleanCapture(TM) image processors, today announced eVJ(TM), a new electronic video jockey capability that enables end users to create the ultimate multimedia still picture slideshow in the camera without the use of a PC or other external hardware.

"Our new eVJ is much more than a slideshow," states Gary Baum, NuCORE Senior Vice President of Marketing. "It is a totally new viewing experience. Using only their cameras, users can create outstanding visual productions by combining their own personal images with audio and an exciting array of video special effects."

Makes Taking and Viewing Pictures Fun

eVJ is an in-camera software application that builds upon the company's underlying NuCAMERA firmware. Powered by a CleanCapture image processor to provide imaging special effects, eVJ makes viewing still pictures more fun by enabling end users to more fully enjoy, and share, the moments that they capture in pictures. Uniquely, CleanCapture-based digital cameras can be directly connected to an HDTV, providing viewing of HD images at the full one- to two-Megapixel display capability compared to NTSC resolution of only 300Kpixel.

"This capability goes far beyond what is possible in most digital still cameras today," notes Baum. "The artistic eVJ multimedia presentation style is so unique, so engrossing, that end users are absolutely mesmerized the first time they see this capability from a camera."

The Ultimate Slide Show

To create the emotion and excitement users want in their slideshows, NuCORE has teamed up with Video Jockey legend Yu Maruno. Japan's most famous and acclaimed VJ, Maruno san, has created a variety of unique scenarios that invoke a powerful, emotional connection with the viewer. "Maruno san's artistic elegance enables an MTV-like production to be easily created with the camera using your own personal pictures," states Ichiro Watanabe, NuCORE's Chief Technical Officer. "From an HDTV owner's point of view, your eVJ ready camera, with your own pictures, will become a very good source for HDTV viewing experience."

CleanCapture Image Processors Make It Possible

At the heart of this performance advance is NuCORE's award-winning SiP-1280 image processor. The most powerful image processor in its class, the highly integrated SiP-1280 delivers the highest image quality and performance in the market today. The NuCORE CleanCapture image processor provides the necessary multimedia "engine" to enable OEMs to go far beyond the basic slide show or viewer capability.

According to Baum, "The SiP-1280 has the punch to power this class of application. DSP Image processors lack the special high-performance, pipelined, JPEG and Zoom engines necessary to drive these types of special effects at HD resolutions from within a camera."

eVJ is yet another example of NuCORE's ability to add new, leading edge capabilities to digital cameras. Earlier advances include InfiniteBurst(TM), the ability to take a virtually unlimited number of pictures at more than 3 pictures per second and DirectView(TM), the ability to directly hook a camera to an HDTV.
