Lexar and Digital Railroad - Streamline Digital Photography PDF Print E-mail

Lexar Teams with Digital Railroad to Demonstrate the ActiveMemory System and Streamline Digital Photography From Capture to Distribution & Sale

PMA 2005 - booth #4132 - ORLANDO, Fla. Feb. 20, 2005 Joint Solution Greatly Improves Workflow for Organizing and Distributing Revenue-Generating Images

{mosaddphp:/ads3.php} Lexar Media, Inc. (Nasdaq:LEXR), a world leader in advanced digital media technologies, today announced a collaboration with Digital Railroad to more quickly make photography images available to customers worldwide.

Aimed at professional photographers and photo agencies, the improved system leverages Lexar's ActiveMemory System(TM) (AMS), a technology designed to improve photography workflow in and out of the photo studio. The new cooperative solution saves much time usually reserved for administrative functions, such as adding copyright and captioning information, and simplifies the process of making content available to customers.

"This cooperative relationship is the most recent example of Lexar's commitment to helping photography professionals be even more productive and successful in their careers," said John Omvik, director of professional product marketing, Lexar. "Capitalizing on ActiveMemory elements built into Digital Railroad's system, professionals who rely on sharing or obtaining images will immediately appreciate the improved process. The full ActiveMemory System -- including AMS-enabled flash memory cards, card readers and Photo Mechanic from Camera Bits-is designed to save time and get the job done quickly and effectively," he added.

How the ActiveMemory-Enabled Solution Works

With Lexar's ActiveMemory CompactFlash(TM) cards, a photographer stores essential captioning and copyright information within a partitioned section of the media card. Using an ActiveMemory-compatible high-speed card reader and Photo Mechanic 4.5 from Camera Bits, the photographer can instantaneously download his or her images to a computer to decide on those worth keeping. Photo Mechanic then automatically appends the previously entered IPTC information to selected images, saving administrative time for the photographer. That information, including caption, copyright and other important details, remains with the image throughout the process, including immediate distribution to a photography agency or directly to a distribution list of potential customers. The selected images can be uploaded directly to the photographer's personal archive powered by Digital Railroad using the FTP function in Photo Mechanic.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with Lexar to provide an exciting new solution that dramatically reduces production time and streamlines workflow for photographers and photo agencies," said Evan Nisselson, founder and chief executive officer, Digital Railroad. "Digital Railroad was founded to provide professionals with a solution to manage, market and sell images digitally. This collaborative offering extends both companies' ability to support photographers with the tools and technology to effectively market themselves and their work."

The Lexar/Digital Railroad solution is available now at http://www.lexar.com/drr/, including special discounts for Lexar customers.
